Hi,

I've got a Panasonic GS-NV17 and I use Adobe Premiere to capture my footage, via a firewire cable/card.

The last tape I captured worked fine, however my latest one seems to have jagged edges/lines out of place on the picture?

It works fine through the tele, the picture quality is great.

I've tried switching ports on the firewire card and tried other software but nothing. Any idea whats wrong? Surely it can't be the tape otherwise the dodgy picture would show up on the tele too?

Any help appreciated! Cheers.

Might be worth posting some pics.

Sounds like it could be a codec problem. I'm assuming your capturing in DV-PAL? Check that all settings are the same as with the first tape.

You could also try capturing with Panasonic DV codec.

It's only the second time i've used it since buying (brand new)

Also the same problem is showing up with VirtualDub

Looks like il have to record on to VHS through the tele :(

Have you used a head cleaning tape on the camera?
Might be worth a try.

The other tape is fine.

Reckon it's because i've recorded it in LP mode? Thats the only difference between this tape and the other one.

Are you playing back on the same camcorder as you recorded with? LP is a less compatible format across differing cameras.

Afaik LP should be the same visual quality as SP. The main difference is that SP is more reliable as it uses more of the tape to store information than LP does.
