camcorder problem

hi i have a jvc c amcorder that takes the mini dv cassettes

i use firewire to take the videos off the camera and using sony video capture to take them off, thing is it keeps having dropped frames every 5 minutes and its really doing my head in because i cant work out why its doing it..

any ideas?

im using sony video capture, is ther anything else i culd try? also now its coming as a blank screen on the pc and showing the video on the cam!
