Expecting out first child in March and the wife wants a compact camcorder to film the new arrival. She has an iphone but it’s only a 16gb version so not suitable for storing many video files

We have a smasung nx1000 that’s our main picture taking device but too big for wife to carry around. Need it to do 1080p have a good image sensor and easy to use.
My question is… should I be looking at compact camera that records decent video like a Samsung NX Mini Compact or a dedicated camcorder like Sony HDR-CX240E HD.
