camcorder worth getting ?

I wanted to get a camcorder, but unsure if they are worth it nowadays. I was looking at the Canon LEGRIA HF G25 my main use would be to film my Bushcraft activities including filming wildlife, and also some youtube instructional videos on knife making.

Would appreciate thought on the above camera and any suggested alternatives

Personally I would just use a DSLR for the things you mention. As most likely you'll want to take some high quality images of your bushcraft activities etc.. too.

Would have thought these days most digital cameras would provide adequate quality video as good as most camcorders unless you're looking for something particular with regards to lens, aperture etc and then DSLRs are very versatile.

If you need to zoom in on wildlife then you're looking at a decent telephoto lens, in which case a you'll start spending some serious money very quickly. But for YouTube, you could probably get away with a mobile phone video, plenty of them shoot HD and above.

I was going to get one of these but after various reviews I ended up with the Panasonic HC-X920 which is really great. You can use full manual mode like the Canon however it does include menu hopping a little to get the features you want.

Sensor is better than the Canon's and I've seen a few production crews use them.

Image stabilization is excellent you can hand hold this thing and you'd think it was on a tripod.
