Hi there recently ive been debating buying a decent camera (digital) as ive been wanting to get into photography. Today the deal was sealed when i went to prescott hill climb and the photo's could have been so much better! Though i did get a good photo of the bugatti veyron.

But yes, i think i would like to spend around £300 - £350 (maybe a tad more) on a camera (not sure if this is dslr money) but wouldnt know where to start. Im not interested in merely point and click, id be looking to take it more seriously than that as i really need a new hobby!

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Rob

Have a look a the Nikon D40/D50/D40x or Canon 350D/400D. a Nikon D40 with kit lens can be had for £320ish, so your budget is in DSLR land. :)

Oh thats good news! I shall have a look around. Aside from actually going out and taking photo's and experimenting, are there any good sites etc that have guides on digital camera's and how to get the best out of any particular photo. Im particularly interested in motorsport if that makes a difference!

http://www.dpreview.com/ But in partcular have a look at http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sidebyside.asp to help you decide in terms of features.

Edit; but don't let features be your only deciding factor. Narrow your options down to 2 or 3, then go into a camera sho and try them out and have a feel of them etc.

Yes i think narrowing them down probably is the best idea. I wouldn't want to buy anything off the net without going in to a shop to get a feel for the camera myself! Thanks for the advice!
