We are looking for a camera that is a good all rounder that can be used for general shots/family shots/holidays/motor racing shots but most importantly takes pictures instantly as we are expecting our first baby soon so dont want to miss a great shot because of a slow camera.

From what I have read the Sony NEX 3NL or NEX 6 seem to fit the bill, although this is my first camera so a friend suggested a bridge camera like the HX300 or HX400 might be a better fit?

Appreciate any input or suggestion on other models (Budget max £450). Thanks :)

Thanks for input so far, EPL5 seems to get good reviews also...will need to research further. However where can you find it for £399 with the twin lenses? As that seems a very good price! I assume they aren't a compeititor to OcUK as OcUK don't sell it :-)

The D5100/D5200 get good reviews but maybe a little too bulky which is why I hadn't looked at DSLRs. We already have a whole load of "stuff" for the baby so something the size of the NEX 3/6 or EPL5 is better for us.

Thanks D.P. that confirms what I had read about the bridge cameras. The RX100 sounds good but the optical zoom seemed low so didn't think it would be a good all rounder.
