I'm looking to buy a camera bag for general use - something that's comfortable to carry around for a few hours. It needs to be capable of carrying:
  • Canon 700D
  • A couple of lenses (18-135 and 10-22 for example)
  • Manfrotto 190 XPROB tripod
  • Some room for stuffing in a jumper/snack/etc.

Also want a quick access section so I can get the camera out without much fuss.

The one I've had my eye on is the Lowerpro Transit 250 AW (http://store.lowepro.com/transit-sling-250-aw). Really like the styling and seems to tick all my boxes but it's about as much as I want to spend at the moment. Has anyone had any experience of this bag? Particularly whether my tripod will fit on the side as I can't find any reviews that give any idea of how big a tripod the mount can take.

Any other recommendations would be gratefully received :)

My choice would be the lowepro 202aw slingshot, had half dozen bags and have gone back to the first slingshot I had lol.

Very easily takes my dslr with 5 lens, flash, battery's,charger, cards and now my iPad and my tripod and monopod but does a bit if bulk and weight to the bag.

Very very easy to get the camera out in less than 10 seconds and very comfy to wear for a few hours, can be had for £25 on the members market or a little bit more fro me bay,

Make sure you get the O2 range as they have the option for holding a tripod and monopod on the side.

Plenty of decent Lowepro options, once you find one that fits your requirements then look on CameraPriceBuster to find the cheapest supplier. I had a Slingshot 200 as my first bag, and found that the single strap design got a bit uncomfortable if I was out for the day.

I can highly recommend www.katabags.co.uk. I've used LowePro previously and feel that Kata go that step further. Simple things like having a yellow interior rather than black, means you can see what's in there easier. They're worth a look and the bag selector is quite helpful.

I find camera backpacks to be bit over protective with so many useless zips, holds, straps and bulk. Unless your carrying 2 bodies, and 4-5 lenses I don't see much point.

Get yourself a decent laptop bag with some form of padding and water protection for only £30-50.

I use Samsonite backpack with Canon 5D mk II, 24-105, Sigma 50mm, 4 batteries, 4 memory card and flash without any issue, and as for the tripod I usually hold it in my hand.

It's all relative - if you don't have lots of gear and/or are don;t need to swap lenses/bodies in a hurry for most of your shooting, then you don't need a dedicated bag. I often pop various cameras and gear into a North Face rucksack and just use Domke wraps of varying sizes to wrap around the gear in there for protection. This gives you lots of flexibility when carrying around a few bits. If you had lots of gear you needed to to take around it may not be quite so practical, but it works for me.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I sometimes use a normal backpack at the moment and find it quite annoying to rummage around in which is why I want something with easier access and that I can separate things out a bit more.
