Hi all,

I was looking at upgrading an old Sony cyber shot I have to the Sony HX50. Then I came across the Sony a5000, which seems nice and something I can do a bit more with. Then obviously I saw the a5100 and then the a6000.... each one getting better and better.

So now I've gone from ~£180 to ~£500 and thinking is it really going to benefit me, or am I just buying tech for the sake of it?

I used to be into photography a bit, never had a nice camera for it though, but used to give it a go. Now I'm thinking, perhaps I should treat myself and might get back into it a bit, hence buying the better camera. I can even get the 210mm lens for airshows etc...

Looking at the a5000-6000, is the main benefit the auto focus gets a lot better?

I think DSLR might be a bit big to carry around, so kind of ruled them out.

My main option is a fast shutter. Which I think these all cover.

But then all the things the 6000 has over the 5000, sounds like its just going to be better.....and it should be, its a better model.

I did read your thread and saw you went for the 6000. Decisions decisions......I guess ill just go to a shop, try em and end up buying the 6000, lol.

Someone at work said get the body and a 18-300 lens which should cover most things. Seems sensible if the lenses that come with it are not very good.

If I start looking at other brands I'll never decide lol

I was thinking the high end compact, but then the a6000 I can change lenses, I just envisage leaving a 18-200 on most of the time.

Just trying to cover most eventualities.
