I'm starting to look for a new/used camera to buy, primarily to be used on motorbike trips - so size is a big factor - and also will be used for some video.

A used EOS M with the 18-55mm kit len can be picked up for £150-180, another possibility is the Canon 100D but these are £200+ for the body only.

I used to have a Nikon D70 quite a few years ago I'm well versed in 'proper' photography (was the main photographer at my sisters wedding), so a simple p&s with no manual modes would be extremely annoying to use!

Any other suggestions for around £200-250 max? Seems like the EOS M is a bit of a bargain, even if the focus is a little slow (not that important for what will be 90% landscape shots). Not looking to spend a huge amount as it won't get that much use outside of travel use, maybe 4-5 trips per year plus some general use.

I have an EOS M and it's a lovely little camera, I will admit I rarely use the kit lens as the 22mm pancake lives on it, the AF is a bit pants but I've shot photos of people with it without any real issue and for landscape /scenery type stuff it is fantastic. For the price you will be hard pushed to match it for quality output!

The 22mm is a dream of a lens sharp, close focussing and pretty fast (f2) given the compact size size! Pointless Holiday snap below!

Also use an M with the 22mm pancake for travelling / light use and it's a great combination. Small, light and relatively pocketable. Personally never found the af to be wanting but given it's a mirrorless i didn't have high expectations and i always use the centre af point.

I like the fact it has Magiclantern support as well which means things like focus peaking etc. are available which were sorely missing for the type of camera it is.

And if you have a TP account they come up reasonably frequently and go for very little money in the classifieds.

Awesome, I do have an account there, just need to make 14 more posts :D

Thanks for the info, the 22mm f2 can be picked up for under £100 so would be nice addition if I need to pack super-small.

Get your post count up and post in the wanted, judging by the regular posters
in the eos-m thread a few are tempted by the new m3 so might part with the original.

Good luck :)
