A friend is getting married and has hired a professional photogragher which is fine, but they're not having a wedding video done. They want to video the speech via their own camera but are going to purchase one for this.

They also the want to take the camera on the honeymoon for images and video as well.

What's good in the compact range? Budget is around 300-500 and I was thinking some kind of Sony would fit the bill?

Maybe something like these?

It's worth noting that a camera like the rx100 will capture video just fine, but the audio won't be fantastic - and I assume that's important if you're recording a speech. You'd also need to get an external microphone, and not all of the RX100 series cameras support external Mic use.

Tbh you could just record via the external mic on it's own and overlay the audio to the video in post, pain in the backside mind but still possible.

Where are they getting married? If it's a church I think quite a few cameras will struggle with the low light in most churches.

I'll pass on the info. It's not me doing this they were just asking advice. I normally do motorsport events etc from a stills point of view.
