If you lose cards, then that's your problem. At least you're in control.
If a card dies, then there's usually sod all you can do about it.
Maybe it is, but if you end up without photos it doesn't much matter whether it's your fault or a technical failure, kicking yourself won't get them back. You take the risks as a whole, not individually, and the incidence of loosing cards casually shooting is generally greater than that of a card failing, for me that means the least risk is in having larger cards. If you have a super structured process for managing your cards or are just mildly obsessive-compulsive about it then good for you, the risks are different in your case.
