Hi guys, im usually a Motors man so hiya!

I bought a Canon Ixus 400 from a popular auction site. The camera was listed with the following description

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CAMERA HAS A FAULT. THE SCREEN ON THE BACK DOES NOT SHOW AN IMAGE. IT OCASIONALLY WORKS BUT USUALLY DOESNT. OTHER THAN THIS THE CAMERA WORKS FINE. YOU CAN TAKE PICS THROUGH THE VIEWFINDER AND PUT THE CARD IN A PC. THIS MIGHT BE AN EASY AND CHEAP FAULT TO FIX?

I wasnt to bothered about no viewfinder as i have an old Ixus 400 which packed up on me with the dreaded E18 error so was going to just simply replace the LCD which i assumed to be the fault. So my "new" camera arrives this morning and i power it up, hmm strange, the menus all appear and work fine on the LCD. But no "live" viewfinder displayed, so i take a few pics and upload them to my PC ... the pics are black, tried a video too, thats black aswell! So im feeling like ive been diddled, anyone got any idea whats up with it?
Someone suggested the shutter maybe jammed shut, but ive looked close at the lens and can see the shutter open and close when a picture is take so im pretty sure the lens assembly is ok.

Anyone give me some urls with some knowledgeable camera peeps plz?
Cheers
