Camera shutter sound

Hello,

New to iPhones, having just begrudgingly come across from Android. I'm trying to get notifications/sounds setup how I like them.

Having done some googling, is there really no way to disable the camera shutter sound in the camera (and other) apps? I like to have my phone not make any sounds, except phonecalls, which I need to ring.

Surely there is a better way to do this having to remember to switch the phone to silent and back again everytime I want to take a photo??

Nope, that's how it works. It goes off if you have the phone in silent mode and there's no other separate control for the sound.

In certain markets (not ours), the camera sound is on all the time, no matter how you have the silence switch positioned. It's a privacy thing.

If you have Live Photos enabled this turns off the shutter sound.

Unless you turn on live photos as above, kinda makes the entire feature redundant tbh

I believe even with Live Photos it's enabled in certain regions. Upskirting is more prolific in certain regions I assume

South Korea and Japan it can't be turned off at all I believe.

I just tested this, and if my rocker button is set to silent, my camera doesn't make a noise (and I don't use Live Photos by default).
