Firstly I have no idea about programming, however I am trying to workout how to do the following and thought this would be the best sub forum to ask in.

I have a 1m long motorised (12v motor) pan camera slider, and looking to have a way of interfacing with a Nikon DSLR so that on an external LCD control box I can input the distance to move the slider carriage, take a photo, then move the slider carriage again and so on until the desired distance/ number of photos are taken.

Any help on this would be great.

Are you needing to make the external LCD box or is this something you already have? Sounds like a tricky hardware interfacing issue with a fairly easy development project tagged on at the end.

The external LCD box with whatever electronics required are still needed. I was thinking something using Arduino bits.
