Camera Upgrade / Replacment time

I'm getting the the point where i think its time for me to replace my 300D,

I bought it prob 2 years ago and have used it to death, it was my first digital SLR and it was / is a great camera to learn with, but over the last 6 months or so i have come to hate how cheap & nasty it feels especially as mine is in silver

I currently have the kit lens and a 28-135mm IS,

I'm looking to get a 30D and poss another lens,

Will i notice a big diff in quality, easy of use etc...

Should i keep the 28-135 IS or get another lens for walkabout.

Looking to purchase in the next 2 weeks

The 40d is coming out soon which should be better and will lower the price of the 30d. not sure the specs though but should be similar to the 400d but better

I did not realise it would be so long. So i guess it depends on how long you want to wait and also if you want to spend the extra cash as the 40d will most likley be more expensive to begin with.

I'm replacing my 300D with a 30D , It can be found with kit lens for £604 (in the UK) and Canon are doing £65 cashback as well

Is that including cashback? Is that for an online UK store? Or import like Kerso?

EDIT - found it, for £604.98 with kit-lens, and that doesn't include the rebate! So that's £549.98... seems very cheap!

Sadly they're quoted 1-2 weeks for delivery, i'm guessing because everybody has bought out their stock at that price!

I think that price must be a mistake. The Body-only kit is £95 more!

I'm tempted to jump for it now, because it's sooo cheap!

Well just placed an order at £605 all in for the 18-55 lens kit. £550 inc P&P is bargaintastic

thats it is mate. i think i would have gone for it if i had seen that before i bought the 400d the other day.

I did get a 400d + bat grip + 17-85 IS USM for £680 after *** canon cash back though.

The lens is worth £350 which is a bloody bargin

Ok something weird going on now. The place I ordered it from for £605, is now no longer selling it directly, but only through 3rd party sellers (for over £700 now). So 2 options:

1) The 30D 18-55 kit has been discontinued... yeah right

2) They're pretending they don't have anymore so they can cancel my order at £605. then once everyone has canceled they'll start selling again :mad:

Ok it looks like they're still selling the camera after all, still listed at 1-2 weeks but at £739 now.

My order is still there at the £605 price, so here's hoping they honour it!
