Always on the M1.....
Just a quickie for anybody in North East England or London, I need a couple of good (Canon 5D iii) repair centres that can provides quotes then possibly do the repair of my insurance company agrees.

I have a feeling they're not going to be economical to repair but will see.

And unfortunately, no pictures of the fall....

Err, no, I bounced of a cliff face and took a swim. Camera clicked a few times, then nothing, even with drying out etc.

Water visible inside the lens, on the mirror, all the places you probably don't want water!

If it has been totally submerged underwater then I would not want it to be repaired. I would want a new one, Canon 5D MKIII is not waterproof or weather sealed. If your Insurance company think it can be repaired they're living in cloud cuckoo land. There is an Official Canon repair centre at Elstree (you can access details via http://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/repair.aspx ). I suspect that if it were sent to them it would cost an arm and a leg to strip all the insides out. Probably cheaper for your Insurance company to pay for a new one.

I think it's one of those situations where you don't want a replacement... Will get to Canon in the first instance, if it's a write off then insurance only want one quote/report.

Thank God for insurance, wouldn't fancy forking out £5000 again!

Ah never knew Canon Elstree did camera repairs, used to work next door to them :)
A work colleague dropped his 5D in the sea and it was written off pretty much straight away, but as this isn't salt water maybe they can fix it. Thank god for insurance either way!
