Anybody know if a police cameravan (camera) will allow 5+mph discrepancy between speedometers when assessing motorists speeds? Thank you

Edit: It's not that I want to go speeding or anything. I may have been caught coming down a very steep hill doing doing between 35-37 (maybe less) and this rudddy cameravan was hidden behind a parked car. Fault is of course all mine: not concentrating due to lack of sleep the night before sigh!

if your talking about on the motorway, if you were doing 80mph indicated you will be fine, I have been past at least 4 camera vans at 80-85 indicated and not heard anything

ACPO guidelines are to prosecute at 35 in a 30 iirc so allowing for speedo error it could go either way

Most speedometers will read a speed slightly higher than you are doing, or so i've heard.
That and you get the little bit of leniancy of a couple of mph, you could be fine.

My car speedo reading 30 means I am doing about 25-26 according to GPS. I do have 18" in place of 16" tho' so this makes it even less accurate.

Be careful if you do contest it as they could say you weren't in proper control of your vehicle, which could lead you into further trouble.
