Cameron has achieved something!

I still don't trust 99.99% of politicians.
So out of touch with Joe Public but come election time they are on Joe Public's doorstep promising you the 'World' for you to vote for them.....
Then their promises vanish into thin air until the next election and then they come knocking on your door again.

Bloody hell! Maybe my vote was worth something, hopefully time will tell.

No, it really wasn't . . . :p

I can't decipher what they mean...is it a cut in the actual amount of budget, or is it an increase less than inflation so they can call it a cut in real terms..

If it's the first (or even the second) and we are paying more, then are we ending up paying a higher % contribution to the overall budget...

Our contribution continues to go up because of the capitulation of Tony Blair in the last budget where he
threw away parts of our rebate for the promise of future CAP reform that has just not happened.

The eu budget is still a horrifically bloated, horrible mess that we are the second highest net contributor to.

I just wanted to know the facts, not the spin..

Btw, how's the big society working for you Dolph? ;)

Facts, real term cut in total budget. increase in our contribution following budget realignment and 2005 rebate changes, however increase is less than originally proposed.

big society is working fine thanks, would work better if people werent so obsessed with 'free' services that are anything but...

Oh yes, we just managed to slaughter most of the research budget, while keeping the subsidies for sectors which shouldn't have them and infrastructures to fuel some imaginary trade ... yes, certainly the right direction

Perhaps, yet the article states research budgets were preserved, while agricultural budgets were cut.
Perhaps the devil is in the detail, but the article states the opposite of what are saying.

I still do not know why you don't try the US, had a nice chat with a friend of mines the other day, bright scientist, and just came to a point in the conversation were he said - coming to a certain point if Maddie (wife) or me get ill and is something which will mean lots of stays at Hospital, the one who is healthy will let the other one die .... - this is happening all over the society. So, I couldn't agree with you more it is a very civilised system and the clear consequence of your i"deal model", you should pack up and start going, I will carry on paying my (very high) tax bill.

Now, "big society"? BS quite an app acronym.

Is anyone here (other than groen) actually arguing for a US style health system? But then I suppose a made up position is easier to argue against... :D
