Hey,

On my Macintosh I am always looking for the most lightweight apps to use for everything, but I have always been using Safari since inception.

I thought about switching across to Firefox to have a smaller memory footprint, but then I realised that Camino was a native Macintosh app.

So now I ask - which should I go for? Firefox or Camino? is there any really benefits when using it on the Internet?

I also used to use Flock but I would like some opinions for you - the Macintosh brethren!

I've used Firefox on Windows since the 1.0 release, so when I bought my iBook I just used Firefox.

I've tried Camino a couple of times and while it is faster & uses less resources, I just like Firefox better plugins etc. Besides I have no need for a third browser on my laptop.

Cool Cool,

Well - while as I do like Firefox for the plugin ability (there does seem to be some Camino plugins about on the internet though) I do not use that many really.

Any more opinions guys?

I Firefox because it was what I was used to before the switch and what I liked.

The only downside is the un-mac-like buttons etc.

I use Safari primarily due to the fact it has autocomplete in the address bar without having to use the down and right keys to select the webpage from a list. Really makes life a lot easier!

Damn you Will_3rd.. stealing my Firefox skins :p

Both browsers use a different engine, so both are faster than the other in different areas.

I recommend tweaking Firefox using the tips over at http://www.tweakguides.com for max benefit! :D

Camino is good, but it would be so much better if it supported Firefox extensions :(

I love aronnax's Firefox themes :D

also, with regard to speed:

Safari > Camino > Firefox

What of substance does Camino have over Safari? I think Safari and Firefox already have the bases covered.

I have used Firefox for ages no matter what platform I am using (as long as you can get FF for it!)

Used Firefox on my 1st Gen TFT iMac. Use Firefox in Windows at home and at work. I now use Firefox on my MacBook. Safari is OK but I just prefer Firefox...

Oh and Camino sucks because it doesn't support Firefox extensions so no AdBlock or Delicious.

Firefox is cool but crashes all the time, recently switched to Safari but it doesn't handle tabs as well (can't get new windows to open in tabs)

I really like the general "slick" feel of Safari, but some of it's default behaviour I don't really like (certain things STILL open in new windows not tabs, the download window won't auto close, if you stop and remove a download from the download window you're still left with a partial file etc.), and without an Adblock-like add-on with support for filter lists (stops my MacBook's fan going insane on sites that decide to plaster pages with all manner of flash things) it makes me stay with Firefox :)
