What I'm actually asking is the ability to run 3D require a certain kind of graphics card or is it just about having a 3D monitor?

Do you need special software on ur computer or anything like that.

Much thanks guys. xx :p

Hi there,

Yes, your HD 7950 can do 3D - though you will need a specific type of 3D monitor and 3D software to get it working.

First, you will want a 3D monitor that does 3D via displayport or dual-link DVI and has the glasses syncing technology fully integrated into the monitor. At the moment, the best of these monitors are the Samsung 3D monitors.

As for the software, to play games in 3D you will also need some 3D middleware - the main ones are Tridef and IZ3D (I believe tridef is a bit better). As for playing 3D blu-rays - you will need a paid-for 3D video player like PowerDVD 12 (pro or ultra), WinDVD 11 Pro or TotalMediaTheatre 5.

Unfortunately, no.

That monitor doesn't have any glasses syncing - so it won't work in 3D with an AMD graphics card. The 3D will only work with Nvidia's 3D Vision technology.

As for games to play in 3D, yes pretty much all modern PC games will work in 3D, though the effectiveness of the 3D does vary between games.

Yes, I have a Sapphire 7950 and it runs in 3D. I have only tried BF3 so far.

Tbh I don't notice much of a difference and in actual fact, it looks slightly hazy on my SA700 with the odd images justified as 3D. Most of it doesn't wow me.

I got a headache from wearing the glasses, too.

TBH I bought my monitor more for the 120hz not for the 3D. I was just curious. I've always thought 3D was a bit of a gimmick. Yeah and it gives me a headache too. Pity I cant test it out tho.

oh well. Thanks guys xx
