Can a Divx DVD player play Xvid files

As the title says, Im wanting to get a divX DVD player but I've found that many of my files are Xvid, wondered if they would play on said DVD player.

It will work as long as the resolution is compatible. Xvid and Divx are basically the same, just two methods of delivering MPEG 4 video.

The biggest difference is that Xvid is free and DivX is not.

Typically, yes

I had one of the first divx player and it didn't like 'packed bitstream' videos because it didn't have enough ram

Now I just use a Media Centre

my dvd player just says divx and it has played every xvid file that I have thrown at it
