Can a gtx460 power 4 monitors if I use a 4 port VGA splitter?

Vga splitters tend to send the same image to 4 different screen.

is that what you are wanting? or were you wanting 4 different images?

I don't think it can, only 2 monitors max for the GTX 460. Although I remember there was a special edition which had a DVI plus 3 HDMI or Display ports, maybe that 460 would be capable of it.

I need 4. The boss at work wants 4 monitors running and he just bought a GTX960 which he dosent care about. He cant get it to work and said that I could have the card for free if I got it to work dosent care what card just as long as it works.

Would have been a nice upgrade for me as am using a 760 and have a 460 spare in my drawer at home.

Oh well.

Doesn't your 760 have 2x DVI and a DP and HDMI port? I've got an old GTX 570 that I am looking at on top of my shelf that does ;D

So that would be 2 VGA and 2 HDMI ? Sorry if I sound dumb but I am really out of the loop regarding multiple monitor setups.

It is all depends what output do you have on videocard and what input you have on those monitors. You gotta take a closer look on your vga and monitors.
Let us know more info so we can help more. Example: on my vga i got 2x DVI , 1x HDMI and 1 DP.

cheers.

Yes it does will that power 4 monitors then?

Can I use a 4 port splitter with it?

Yes it will but you will need to use all 4 connectors on the GPU. As already mentioned by someone else, a VGA splitter duplicates the image so for your purpose is useless.

You will need 2x DVI cables, 1x HDMI cable and 1x DisplayPort cable. You will need to make sure the monitors you are connecting to have these ports, or if not you will need to buy adapters.

I am sure the monitors will all at least have DVI, in which case you can get HDMI -> DVI adapters, and Displayport -> DVI adapters.

N.B with these adapters, you will need to use DVI cables, the HDMI / displayport connectors on these adapters plug in to the rear of the GPU, then you just plug in a normal DVI cable in to each adapter.
