Ive got my hands on a Homehub2 to replace my ailing Netgear; which has never been the same since the phone-line was struck by lightning.

My ISP is UKonline on a BT phone-line & they're great & I would never move to BT because of their capping issues & they're now releasing user download info to the authorities: a friend of friend was fined £500 for downloading a Scooter album a year ago

Ok, Ive got this sleek looking Homehub2 & granted its a pos inside but I could do with getting it work.
But it wont logon to my broadband as it thinks by non BT username is invalid.
Is there a way to fix this?
Oh, I dont mind bricking the hub as it err didnt cost much ;)

I have a feeling it wont work as BT use your phone line to authenticate your account.

You might be able to reflash it, to be honest Id just buy a new router, they are not expensive!

Yer my ISP has offered me another Netgear (prob dg834gt) at half price £25.
I was thinking of getting a hub phone for this thing though.
Yep Google agrees a flash is needed... Anyone have a link to the Speedtouch firmware?

According to Wikipedia the HomeHub 2 doesn't do ADSL2+, only ADSL. No idea if that's the case since it says earlier versions do ADSL2+. If that is the case and your service from UKOnline is ADSL2+ there's one good reason not to bother with the HomeHub.

Homehub 2 does do ADSL2.
It only works with BT Retail lines (therefore the hub phone won't work either).
You can only (to my knowledge) flash the Homehub 1.0.

You might as well just buy a cheap Netgear or something, the current Hubs aren't really any good (the newer ones coming out are in testing at the minute and look a bit more promising).
