Can a new wireless mouse work with the old receiver?

So I have a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard combo (2.4ghz)
But the mouse is getting a bit dodgy.

Should I be able to buy another 2.4ghz mouse (Logitech or otherwise) and press the sync button and have it work?

I'd assume 'yes', but I thought I'd try asking before I bought one :)

Cheers

You're better to assume it won't work with the same receiver unless it's identical or both use something like the Logitech 'Unifying Receiver' or Bluetooth.

Any wireless mouse will come with its own receiver anyway, and there's no reason you can't have multiple receivers connected to one PC.

Better yet, depending how long you've had the set contact Logitech and see if they will ship you out a replacement mouse. In terms of customer service Logitech have been pretty good.

logitech have been using unified receivers for years? I've always just left the old one plugged in

yea if the mouse has warranty still logitech are stupidly good.

I had 3x replacements for one dead mouse years ago :D
warranty lasted 3 years the mouse lasted about 10months with how much I used to spam the left mouse button XD

I felt kind of bad on the 3rd mouse but I was still within warranty and logitech didn't complain :D

Contacting them and asking for a replacement isn't really an option for me where I am :)

You know what, I might just bite the bullet and go for it. I think the T400 mouse looks interesting and the worst case scenario is that I have to use another USB port to use it's own dedicated receiver...... although I am actually running out of USB ports and will need to buy a PCIe expansion very soon too :D

So it turns out that although Logitech DO a unified receiver, my previous mouse and keyboard weren't part of that so now I have 2 receivers plugged in.

Boooo !!

Not the end of the earth though. The T400 seems like a decent mouse although the smooth scroll pad might take a bit of getting used to :)
