Hi

Is the PS3 able to use a lightgun? There doesn't seem to be anything available as a native accessory to it but I was wondering if you can get USB PS2 guns that would still work with it?

Naturally I would be looking at the older PS1/2 games with it.

Thanks :)

Traditional lightguns don't work on HDTV's.

Your best bet is to wait for Time Crisis 4 (I think it's 4) which will come with a light gun designed especially for LCD's/Plasma's.

You realize there are CRT HDTVs ? Your high horse sucks. :p
Yes, but I was relying on the fact that when you say HDTV, it is usually taken as meaning LCD/Plasma.

You can always rely on people around here being anal. :p

No it's taken as meaning 'High Definition Television'. I don't see liquid crystal display or plasma screen anywhere in the term.

;)

You're being either stupid or needlessly picky.

Go to your local electrical retailer and ask for a HDTV, they'll take you straight to the LCD/Plasma section. ;)

Time Crisis 2/3 came with LCD compatible guns I think.

There are sensors you attach to the top and bottom of the screen if I recall.

I believe that's how the new version will work as well.

If you take culturalism into account then HDTV does mean Plasma/LCD, because i don't believe that any CRT HDTVs were released in the UK.

Just to be pedantic ;)

Which was all I was saying.

If you were to tell a mate you'd just bought a HDTV, he would probably ask was it Plasma or LCD? He certainly wouldn't ask if it was Plasma, LCD or CRT?

HDTV is not limited to LCD or Plasma (CRT moniters have been running HD resolutions for years) but LCD/Plasma's have become such a standard that if you're talking about HDTV it's all but certain you're talking about one of the two.

That's irrelevant. It's not a fact that you cannot use lightguns on any HDTVs. CRT HDTVs can operate with them, which nulls your comment that it's a blanket incompatibility. The smilie I posted obviously implied it was a tongue-in-cheek post, but clearly you want to take this a step further.

Saying 'oh but the vast majority are liquid crystal displays and/or my mate thinks they all are liquid crystal displays' doesn't make CRT HDTV displays suddenly incapable of working with lightguns.

Such a silly comment really. I suppose you're one of those who think every terrorist is a Muslim too? If the vast majority thinks something is so, it must be true after all! :p It should be noted that the CTV-32Z30 is seeing an imminent release in the UK, and as it's the going to be the cheapest HDTV set there is, I would expect CRT HDTVs to surge in popularity before you know it.

oh knives stop arguing, thats terrifically pendantic. for all intents and purposes hdtv = plasma/lcd. you cant easily buy a high definition crt anywhere in the uk so arguing over this is just pointless.

traditional light guns wont work, but they will get around it. couple of positional leds a la Wii and they'll have a accurate gun.

certainly isnt me keeping it up. oh by the way, not all lightguns work on hd crts. If you really do want to keep this up, you should go check that out first:)
