I've been listening to 80's synth tributes on youtube recently, and in this one, sombody says that the images in the video, are done by AI, can AI really nail the 80's this well, in generated images?

like, in the first image the arcade macine that she has both hands on, I remember that arcade macine, can AI truely come up with somthing like that, generate an 80's girl and put her hands on it, with such a good angle?
If all the images in the video are AI, then I am simply flaberglasted!
there are other girls in the video too, are they really unique generated women? bring on the holo suite if so!!
Mental, they look like really well done airbrush images to me
can AI really be this good?
and, how does it work?
do they just feed a program a million 80's images of girls, and then say, "now you make one "too" at the click of a button?

hmmm perchance you are asking us you have kleenex at the ready?

Only some of the images are AI, I'm pretty sure, but the ones that are AI do have pretty obvious tells that they're not real.

10 mins 57 secs is my favourite.

...and yes they are clearly AI. They aren’t even the best AI generated pics I’ve seen by a long shot.

Yes and diffusion models that can do that have been around for over a couple of years or so now - there's another thread in GD about it, see tools like mid-journey, stable diffusion, flux etc.

Sort of, yeah - not just girls but many, many images. And then in some cases you might want to fine tune the model if you're going for a particular vibe/style you'd like to be replicated.

I've only taken a brief look but they all look plausibly AI generated - I would be curious which ones you think are not AI (or by implication think are the most realistic)?

It's about the most cliche bunch of USA 80s stuff I can think of so sure ai can easily do that.

Dunno what you're talking about. These are two perfectly normal looking women.

should have gone to spec savers ?

clearly the AI wasn't fed on a genuine diet of shape of people in the 80's, too;

Seems like hollywood movies should have clearer warnings AI inside too (the brutalist), or bafta for 'now and then'

e: disfigured fingers that hadn't been cosmetically corrected could be an authentic sign of 80's no ?

Cover photo and final image. Looks Like AI. the bra is off and looks like it has a different material between the left and right cups.

1. Looks like AI. the head unit makes no sense.
2. If that is AI it is one of the best AI images I have ever seen or it has been touched up by a person
3. Is AI. However they both kind of remind me of Anna Cramling
4. I think its AI. the girls right hand looks weird. The shadows might also be off
5. Is AI. The depth of field has that AI look to it
6. Tough one. Looks like he has two jackets so maybe AI. Not sure. I don't think it is possible to hold a radio like that though. I think he would at least need a thumb on the bottom of it
7. AI. Clothes have the AI look to them and the anatomy looks wrong in areas.
8. Not sure. Something seems off about it though.
9. Background has the AI look and the cigarette is being held strangely.
10. AI. The trees all being unifrom into the distance doesn't look realistic to me.

I think the filter to make it look like the images have been shot on film help to hide some of the imperfections i think.

Edit: OP I think the music in your video might be AI generated.

The music is AI generated as well.

Yes.

Your flabber is gasted.

Yes they are all AI generated.

That's because it is trained on really well done airbrush images, amongst other things.
can AI really be this good?
Yes (leaving aside that these AI images are pretty pants and well behind the cutting edge)
and, how does it work?

That is about as good a layman's explanation as you'll get, yes.

yes if the model was trained only on 80s stuff.

it would know the content from the 80s, item associations etc. they just associate certain themes, and certain items with specific rooms like our brains do.

you can tell some images used on news sites etc are AI, because they will put an out of place object on a desk, or somewhere in the background.
one of them seems to have an obsession with plants and you will see the same plant in many images all over the place.

you could train your own model that can create pictures from words, have it process an audiobook and put a video output, even if it were only still images.
you then put that on youtube or somewhere as "Audiobook graphics Dungeon Crawler Carl"
people listen to their audio book in sync with the video of ai created images.

I'm surprised no one seems to be doing it on a professional level, maybe theres some copyright laws stopping it?

it shouldn't even be that hard to create basic models for it yourself, just ask chatgpt to write you scripts and install python or whatever
you just need to create a dataset of images and labels for them and tie it into an ai that can draw or paint.

nvidia have some cool stuff
