Hi, This is my pc spec
first of all i have vista 64Bit with a 1900x1200 monitor (ive also tryed it on a 1600x1050)
phenom 2 x4 955 3.2Ghz
4gB of ddr3 ram at around 8-8-8-26
1 x 285 GTX
a 790FX chip set gigabty motherboard.
Now this is my question >< I can only get about 40Fps On WoW on max settings, I can get about 30-40fps on max settings on crysis... and today i got Champions online (i know its beta) but im only getting about 30-40fps on recomended/highe settings.. and about 10-20 when im flying around... On spores Fraps is showing my fps at around 39>< i know my pc aint the best in the world but i kinda think its above avrage for pc games. Where i have a AMD and a nvidia card.. i cant sli >< As amd dont make SLI boards! (with ddr3) :( so i had to just get the one :(.. Now in my opion i should be at leats 60fps on games like wow, spores etc.. Is there something im missing? My graphic card is REALLY hot >< like where i cant touch it lol but i havea feeling thats normal >< .. can any one offer some friendly advice? .. Ive just upgraded so i dont wana change to intel or 2 new ati cards :/ :( HELP! *cries* lol I have downloaded speed fan and ave noticed the GPU is at 59C and hd1 is at 159c! is that normal :/ both have a little flame by them.. lol Im pretty sure my case is good for cooling i have 5 Fans in it 2 running VERY fast the other 3 are 12cm and arnt running that fast. Can any one give advice? Ive been told there MUSt be a problem somewhere because it shoud be performing a lot better than what it is (the frame rates above) :( also on the 3d bench mark program it rates my pc below avrage... ><

I'd love to help if I can, I do agree that you should be seeing better framerates than you are currently getting. Mind if I ask a couple of questions?

What graphics drivers are you running?

What case and PSU are you using?

What CPU cooler are you using?

Is anything overclocked?

ty so much if u dont mind helping lol >< NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 190.38 < thats the driver i have insatalled at this mo. My case is RED LED NZXT LEXA ATX. My psu... I cant remmber which site i got it from but it was 84.99 OCZ brand with 750w (may be 800) The cpu cooler came with the cpu :( and nope i havnt over clocked anything. wouldnt know how lol ><

Additional info
Also Since ive put it all togeather... Its been acting..odd >< .. Like freezing up more often than when i had my old mobo+ddr2 ram and old psu installed.. Like opening windows seem to take just an extra bit longer :( I thought a quad would have done it faster than my old 6400+ :/

Also this is the Mobo
Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P 790FX Socket AM3 DDR3 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard

NOTE: its a 700W sorry lol OCZ PSU 700SXS StealthXStream 700W

Aye, from what you are saying your PC has definately got some issues.

If you download this application called OCCT you can measure your system temperatures and also stress test your system.

Would you be able to read out your idle system temperatures. Then turn on the stress tester and leave it for 10 minutes - then read out your temperatures again. This is very safe as if the temperature goes too high or it becomes unstable it simply stops the test.

Ok hope im doing this right idle temps are as follows.
CPU 1 36.2
2 36.75
3 36
4 36 (there jumping around the 36-38 mark)

GPU 1 56

vcore 0.96
3.3v 3.39
5V 5.11
12v 12.16
Ok starting test

High Priority
test mode Large data set

CPU
1 38 ish
2 38 ish
3 38ish
4 38ish

GPU 56
The thing is i got some pictures of bar charts that say my cpu rose to 96Ish... but the gpu never wnt above 65. Also says test finished with NO errors.

oh dear.....says phenom 955 shouldnt rise above 65c.... >< lol!! thats the problem then? wait i was looking at wrong bar >< the temps for cpu never rose above 57c same wit the GPU never went above 57! sorry was looking at the % side.

Wow, 96? I'm guessing the test ended pretty abruptly as it usually shuts off at around 80, was that the case?

If that's the case your problem may be a seating problem with the CPU heatsink. In that case, you should remove the heatsink, remove all thermal paste and then reapply new thermal paste (if you do not have any thermal paste, this stuff works great and is easy to apply). Then mount the CPU heatsink according to the included instructions and ensure the CPU fan is correctly connected to the motherboard.

Ok ill tyr that :) I have some of that Thermal pste and cleaning fluids. When it arrived tho it had thermal paste attached to the heasink allready >< Dam thing lol I hope it is that :(

sorry just ntoiced :( dont think u ntoiced my message underneath :( lol i was looking at the wrong side of the graph it was 95% of the cpu not 95c>< :( lol sorry >< if the cpu isnt going that hot and the gpu.. would thatmean the mobo Is letting me down somewhere? :/

Ah, that makes more sense now. So it was CPU utilisation not degrees centrigrade, that can only be a good thing :)

I'm guessing the 38s are the load temos, are you really only getting a 2degree temperature rise when loaded? As that is seriously impressive, what clockspeed does it read at?

If I were you rerun the OCCT test but with these settings:

Test type: infinite
Test mode: Medium data set
Priority: Normal
Hyperthreading as dual core : not ticked

Then after 10 minutes of running at full load could you post a screenshot of OCCT? Hopefully this should determine whether it is the CPU is the problem or not.

k >< im not sure maybe i id something wrong :( lol give me 15mins and ill post a screen shot.. not sure how to post screens on here but ill try :P

No worries m8.

To post screenshots, just hold alt + Print screen - then paste it into paint. Crop the image if you wish then save the file as a .png (for a small, good quality image). Then go to imageshack and upload the image there. You will be given a direct link address by imageshack - just click the image button on the forums (looks like a mountain and yellow sky) and paste the link in. Hey presto - image appears in the post.

P.s .. sorry for ALL my typo's >< new keyboard + typeng in the dark = Lots of type's lol

Also... just looked on speedfan.. and says my HD1 is running at... 180C now ><... is that a fault with that program?... lol would have thought it would burst into flames at that heat..

That looks perfectly fine, well within what is expected.

The next thing you should probably look at is the GPU. For this you can download Furmark.

I just tested it myself and it is a very stressful program. When installed set it to stability testing mode and log GPU temperature. Also, run it in 1920x1200. Run that for a few minutes and see what temperature your GTX 285 gets up to and check if it fails.

As for the temps on speedfan, that HDD one sounds crazy. You pobably should download everest ultimate which also has loads of temperature sensor readouts.

Ok just downloaded it and clicked go..nothings happening tho -_- Ill give it a few mins maybe something will pop up after a sec lol

Ok got it working :D But i dunno where it stored the screens.. but i took note lol It went from 61C to 81 max after 3 mins and it stayed at 81/80 for about 2 mins with out increaseing or decreaseing :)

My friends PC was having very similar issues - just spent most of the day looking at it and found that one of the clips from the PSU that goes around the 8pin CPU power pin on the mobo was horribly mis-shappen, got some tweezers out and bent it back and things are looking up =]

Just try double checking all connections and connectors.

Yea, that also sounds about right.

Maybe the problem you have in games is based on settings not the hardware. What is the AA and AF you run the games at usually?
