Asrock Extreme 4 motherboard
Vertex SSD 250GB
K2 Mount Doom CPU cooler

I am new to overclocking and would wish to overclock my chip hence the cooler i recently brought, I have never ever overclocked this chip but after doing a prime95 test at clock my temps are about 65.

when idle my temps are 24-45

how is it though that core 2 with a standard clock stays at 45 running prime yet the rest hit 65.

when i use the preset EZ motherboard overclock settings to 4.4 all my cores go to 85-90 yet again core to stays at 75 which is where i want to be.

This chip has not been overclocked at all since i have had it any ideas guys

The temps are too high under load at 4.4ghz

Ideally you want to keep em under 80C.

I would remount the cooler and check the temps again. Could well be a bad mount. For testing an overclock just use the PC. Programs such as Prime are synthetic loads and not great stability testers.

I am not sure what Vcore the board is setting for 4.4 but I would start with about 1.3v.

mate how easy was that lmfao 4.4 with a vcore of 1.340 is at 69oc when running bf4 beta arma 2 and 3 and crysis 3 all max i tried 1.3 but it locked up on me the pc did but at 1.340 its sweet all i did was set the preset on motherboard to 44 and a fixed vcore to 1.340 as opposed to auto which is what the board does.and its sweet any tips or things to look out for as i dont wanna smash my chip lol
