Hey guys, yesterday morning I had a call from a lady for an Interview Saturday at 9:45am. The company is called Showcase Cinema.
They are recruiting 5 different roles e.g Ushers,Kitchen Assistant. and I had opted for Box Office Cashiers when I sent the email.

Heres a little info:

General Assistants

Showcase is a leading multi-national cinema exhibitor. We are passionate about delivering the very best movie-going experience, teamed with a first class food and beverage operation and cutting-edge technology, enabling us to offer the very highest standards of service to each and every guest.

Sucessful Candidates will be contacted.

Its actually my first ever job interview and im really wanna have a real crack at it. I am looking for part-time as I will be still studying. I've regretted in not doing Job-searching earlier as I am 20 now and want to try and take the best out of this opportunity.

I spent hours yesterday around town, choosing all the smart looking formal clothes which I have tried and looks great. I do feel slightly anxious(I had even struggle to sleep 2day with it on my mind lol)

Personally know a few of the basic tips like eye contact always, sitting straight posture(hand on laps) and speaking clearly.
But what I am worried is what questions they myt ask and such, Can any of you guys who has the experience in job interviews, give me any ideas and top tips. Do apologise in writing all this, greatly appreciated for any useful inputs :)

Thanks

Ask about the owner and after the interviewer replies ask, "Does he look like a *****?" (rhymes with witch). When they say 'what' just follow through that scene from Pulp Fiction.

I suggest you don't actually shoot the interviewer though.

Use the STAR system

Find someone to ask you questions in preparation, ideally someone who interviews themselves, or has been successful in in lots of interviews.

Also, it might sound daft but make sure your hands are warm before going into the interview. Shaking a cold hand immediately gives a bad impression.

The STAR system is really good.

Also, try to mimic the mood and tone of the interviewer. So if they are being solemn, don't clown around etc.

Be confident! :D

well... don't be nervous :) I honestly think this is REALLY important, though I have had only 1 interview (got the job). Meant I could think about my answer 'easier', try and predict what they would ask you though and have an idea of what your reply will be, though don't say it word for word. A quick google search will give you all sort of questions they might ask, apparently the "why are you here/tell me about yourself?" is used a lot! It was my first question.

Good luck!

I give you a brick, you can do anything with it. What do you do with it?

*Always look the interviewer in the eyes
*Try not to say "Errrrm"
*Be confident. Confident... Not Cocky
*Do not offer to work for free.
*Tell small lies - This could help boost your chances

With it being the sort of role that it is, just make sure that you turn up clean and well presented, and are polite and friendly. They are the only real attributes that they're looking for in someone to fill that role.

"Dave? Hi, GTO. Got a tricky one fella, do you have a minute? Yeah, I'll wait, get your pencil and paper. Right, here we go. You listening? 'What makes you suitable for this position?' Shall I say it again? Nah? Sweet. Yeah, hang on, my pen doesn't work ... nah, she's looking at me funny but it's fine, don't worry ... right, here we go. Say again? 'Because I'd be good'? I don't get it. Dave?"

STAR is good :) However, I find it easier with the CAR technique instead.

Make your first line "Do you feel lucky punk?"

They love the whole role playing thing in Cinemas.
He'll get chucked out because I don't think Dirty Harry actually ever said that. Pretty sure the line was "Do you feel lucky? Well do you? Huh, punk?"

:p
