I'm looking to get one of these for a friend, can anybody recommend one that they might have come across, most seem to be 3440x1440 which will be too hard to drive for his GPU.

Will he never upgrade his GPU? Monitor is one of those things you try and "future proof" (as much as I hate the phrase). Can always turn down graphics settings while using a good monitor and monitor lifecycles are usually much longer than GPUs... Just my 2p though

I share your sentiments but this is what he's looking for right now. ;)

Honestly, no. Have you used a 27" 1920x1080 panel before? That's how soft a 34" 2560x1060 panel looks. If that's ok then go for it, but they look pretty poor when you're doing anything other than gaming, IMO.

@Black Dog
That looks like a very decent monitor. You should be getting good frame rates with a 2080TI, pushing that 144Hz display.

How do you find gaming on it? Do you sense a lack of sharpness or detail as it is 1080p?

not at all. By the time you add AA or even DSR if you like, I have no issues with image size or quality. Getting very good frame rates which is my priority but with the screen being 34" it's not actually that big and games look more than good. On desktop the fonts are a little bigger than a 4k screen but I spend all my time gaming so it's not an issue for me but it might be an issue for someone who uses windows a lot.

Cheers for that. It does tick quite a few boxes. How does the G-Sync work as in the OcUK specs it states 'No' to G-SyncTM? Also does it have VESA mounts on the back?

Currently playing assassins creed origin maxed out and it looks stunning, I will go 4k one day but happy with my current setup. It's a good price considering what you get and also has HDR.

yes it has vesa100 and I have it on the my wall. Once you enable freesync in the monitor menu the nvidia drivers have the option to enable gsync and it works no problem. It is a certified gsync monitor.

Excellent, that looks like all the bases covered. It's a shame that OcUK don't have them in stock but I've sourced it elsewhere for slightly less.
As it's purely for gaming it's perfect as he will get those high frames he's after with the 34" UW and won't feel the need to upgrade his 1080TI.
Really appreciate you sharing your experience. ;)
