I'm looking to get one of these for a friend, can anybody recommend one that they might have come across, most seem to be 3440x1440 which will be too hard to drive for his GPU.
I share your sentiments but this is what he's looking for right now. Will he never upgrade his GPU? Monitor is one of those things you try and "future proof" (as much as I hate the phrase). Can always turn down graphics settings while using a good monitor and monitor lifecycles are usually much longer than GPUs... Just my 2p though
It will be a second monitor just for gaming so I think that will be perfectly fine for him.Honestly, no. Have you used a 27" 1920x1080 panel before? That's how soft a 34" 2560x1060 panel looks. If that's ok then go for it, but they look pretty poor when you're doing anything other than gaming, IMO.
Thanks, I didn't know about that and yes you're right, I'll have to see what I can pick up 2nd hand as not much choice brand new. There's the https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-...curved-led-monitor-black-silve-mo-04a-ao.html but as you've found, 34" 2560x1080 monitors are on the decline and becoming quite rare.
Cheers for that. It does tick quite a few boxes. How does the G-Sync work as in the OcUK specs it states 'No' to G-SyncTM? Also does it have VESA mounts on the back?not at all. By the time you add AA or even DSR if you like, I have no issues with image size or quality. Getting very good frame rates which is my priority but with the screen being 34" it's not actually that big and games look more than good. On desktop the fonts are a little bigger than a 4k screen but I spend all my time gaming so it's not an issue for me but it might be an issue for someone who uses windows a lot.
Excellent, that looks like all the bases covered. It's a shame that OcUK don't have them in stock but I've sourced it elsewhere for slightly less.yes it has vesa100 and I have it on the my wall. Once you enable freesync in the monitor menu the nvidia drivers have the option to enable gsync and it works no problem. It is a certified gsync monitor.
