Can anyone do the splits with enough training?

I'm in a bit of an excerise phase at the moment. When I used to do Karate, we used always do streches and work on doing the splits.

Is it biologically possible for most men to do the splits given enough excerise and stretching training?

I have done karate for several years and it is my understanding that not everyone will be able to do the splits due to way some peoples hip joint has developed.

Anyway doing the splits is just for show lol :)

Not everyone can. Ive trained with some guys for years who have been pushing themselves to the limits of their flexibility and still cant manage it for various reasons, mainly their hips, whereas other guys have been able to push themselves and manage the full splits within a few months. Took me around a year of training to manage the full splits. Cant do it anymore though.

This stretching lark is damn painful.

Just let you know I been doing it each day and I'm 50% more flexible than when I started. As I've had an office job for ages and didn't really do any exercise, I pretty much seized up. Hopefully I'll post a picture of me doing the splits alongside a loaf of bread.

Sitting down, I can touch my toes now with the legs completely straight. It's very time consuming too. 1h30mins a day or so.

don't think everyone can, but most people can get to a decent level of flexiblity for good kicks just takes a lot longer for others. went from being above avergae flexibility to splits in 8 months when doing karate / kickboxing just takes lot of hard work and doing it everyday not done much flexilibity stuff for a year for different reasons but still got a good level.

Got friends who were seriously unflexilible to point of being weird who with training ended up at least good bit above avg joe but doubt they would ever be able to do box splits.
