Can anyone explain/relate to this?

I did a quick google using different terms and couldn't find a match, but does anyone else find if they go from watching TV lying down to sitting on their monitor they can't focus properly on the monitor, like it goes a bit 'drunk vision' for a while, before returning to normal? Any explanation? It doesn't apply to anything other than the monitor, as I can focus perfectly fine on anything that isn't a computer screen.

I wasn't sure if it's an actual medical thing or if it's just some explainable symptom of switching between the two VDUs, as I've got near perfect vision otherwise.

It's never particularly bothered me but I did wonder if I was alone.

Are you talking about feeling dizzy or simply not being able to focus? If it's the former then I think it's quite normal to be a bit light headed when you stand up too quickly.

Seems like it's likely a medical thing then, I'm conscious not to turn it into a medical advice thread, as I know those are prohibited... and just to make clear I'm not looking for advice on the matter. If it ever concerns me to the point where it causes discomfort or similar I'll get my eyes checked, but to date I've never had a problem with my vision and outside of this isolated occurrence my sight is as strong as it's always been to my knowledge.

I guess I just hoped on the off chance it was a common symptom of swapping between different resolution LCDs or something similar :p bummer.

How long do you need to watch TV for the effect to be noticeable when sitting at your computer?

It could simply be a case of your eyes being focused on something some distance away, and then having to focus on something quite close almost right after.

Perhaps your monitor's resolution is a bit wonky?
