Hi, I'm having issues getting large (hd) quicktime movies to play (with vista)

this particular .mov http://rapidshare.com/files/123118511/RUGBY_SNICKERS.rar.html curiously comes up in gspot as being a quicktime file using wma for audio and wmv3 for video

gspot.jpg

it won't play in:

vlc
media player classic
apple quicktime (points me in this direction http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html?os=Windows&ctype=61646563&csubtype=574d4133 )

any ideas?

Try uploading to Rapidshare. It could be that NTL have set a max single file size limit.

Where did you download the clip from? Can't you link us directly to it?

this particular one came with a magazine, there are other large .mov files (which are much bigger) that gspot identify's as using sorenson compression which also just displays black

I'll give rapidshare a try

whats the vid? cant get it to play in xp either. tried vlc, classic media player, wmp, divx player, convertxtodvd (errored) tunebite (again errored) and quicktime which linked me to the same site you got.

Thanks for that :), I did have another copy that worked but I thought it would have been more likely that something was wrong with my machine than a magazine sending out a duff quicktime movie - apparently not:rolleyes:

are there any tools out there for finding out if a quicktime movie has some kind of drm included?

I know with wmv's media player will point you in the right direction to buy a license but I'm not sure if/how it works with quicktime movies
