Hi,

A mate of mine bought this (possibly bronze) statue from a junk shop about six months ago. He's been unable to find out any info about it.

Is it of anyone in particular or a generic bust? Where does it come from? Thinking possibly Norse or Greek. An significance of any markings?

Thanks in advance,

Persian.

Lightweight archer or sailor maybe.

Generic is my guess.

Maybe Alexander great era. :p

I sound pro

Not Graeco-Roman or Norse. Eyes give it away as middle eastern or Asiatic imo.

My first thought was Persian. Closest match is Darius 1, 522-486 BC, third king of the Achaemenid Empire. (link and link). He'd also be just about the most logical ruler to immortalise from this period and region. Not fully convinced on the style of armour, but I'm assuming this is a generic and relatively modern piece, stylized.

How tall is this statue?

Does your friend live in ancient Greece?

Is his name Jason?

Does he have a ship called the Argo?

If so, it's not good news I'm afraid....
