Earlier on I was trying to connect to XBL through my laptop's wireless connection. I was having some problems and one of the solutions I tried involved messing with DNS setting in my Xbox's menus. It didn't work and I gave up but ever since then I haven't been able to get online.

I think Ive ****ed up my DNS settings somehow. I've tried turning my modem off and on again and setting my DNS settings manually but I can't seem to get online. Can someone help me?

Set the entire IP details manually.

IP Address - In the same range as the Gateway / Router
Subnet - Same as the Gateway / Router
Gateway - The exact Gateway / Router IP address
DNS Server - 8.8.4.4
Secondary DNS - 208.67.222.222

Are other machine connected to the gateway able to get online?

Thanks for helping. Got it working by turning it all off and back on again :/

I tried that before calling Virgin, but for some reason it only worked when I was on the phone to them. Murphy's law or something.

Aah... It's broken again. I think something is up with my DNS settings. Resetting everything makes the connection work for a few minutes but not permanently.

ots3go, I tried going into ipv4 properties and setting IP and DNS manually. I used the DNS servers you listed and just entered the IP settings I found in my router's pages but it didn't work.

I would really appreciate help to fix this. It's really frustrating.
