Can you help me get this under £850 inc P&P please? It is for a client so free postage is not an option. His absolute maximum budget is £850.

The case was chosen by him, so that needs to stay as-is really, and the silly LED lights are almost certainly going to have to stay judging by how excited the prospect of colour changing lights made him, and he is into his music so the sound-card is a strong preference because of the built in headphone amp and improved sound quality over on-board.

PSU is a 650 watter to allow for SLI in the future.

Damn you OcUK for putting some of the prices up slightly *shakes fist*

*edit* I have now persuaded him to add the silly lights at a later date, bringing the total down to £847, which is under his maximum of £850 *phew*...

Any suggestions/adjustments will be duly noted however :)

P.S Dibs on Farcry 3 if he goes for it ;)

He doesnt like the shinobi much and the PSU would make future SLI/Crossfire really tight.

The fan controller isnt really needed as most motherboards can control fan speed anyway.

Fair do's, I dont like that Alfar case. Please dont teach me how to suck eggs though fella ;)

£30 went on the spectre pro fans, you said he got excited by turning lights on and off which is what the Hydra pro does as well as adjust the fans....you need the spectre fans to do this. They will be better than what comes with the Alfar case guaranteed

The Z77-D3H isnt for SLi/Xfire so I used the P&C PSU (its seasonic) in white to keep the theme. Is he 100% going to add another GPU and deal with the hassle of dual carding? The 840 basic is worse than the 830 but it was out of stock as I said but it was double the capacity of your choice for a little more. The RAM has a lifetime warranty (most do) so makes sense to get the fastest kit you can for the price, it also ties in nicely with the blue on the mobo as you want to use a CLC the height of the RAM doesnt matter.

The 7850 is better than the 660. AMDs new drivers have helped and it OC's very well with a good quiet cooler and lets not forget the free games bundled along with ;) I'm not convinced he needs a soundcard, you could add one later but if he wants it he wants it.

It's very hard to put something together for other peoples tastes. Good luck with it bud. Not many of the good speccers have been on much the last few days, you might get lucky in the morning though

Sorry, didn't mean to come accross that way :p

Like I said, he likes the case, so thats the only reason it is in the spec. It wouldnt be my first choice either.

He might be dual-carding in the future as 660 SLI seems like a good setup at the moment.

Again, I apologise for sounding patronising, it was not my intent :)

It's cool bud. You know me, I don't mind a little bit of banter between mates :)

Dont tell me the Antec CLC is worse as the Rad is the same size basically. Your choice of PSU is out of stock so I've used this gold rated seasonic. Maybe he finds this more appealing. I dont know what you meant about the pricing of the RAM, if you think that the price will change on the RAM before he orders then the i5K will go up too and you'll end up doing another re-spec.

I can't lie, I look at this spec and then look back at my last stab and for £10 more I think it looks soooo much better. If he can forget this need to dual card and drop the soundcard we can get him a much better GPU with some great games for the price of your initial spec.

Cheers hono :) Some food for thought, i'll bear those specs in mind.

I'm sure the Kuhler is just as good as the Corsair performance wise (heck, I have one in my rig right now) but I had a-lot of trouble with the first one which had to go back, and the second one I had to plug into two headers rather than daisy-chaining to make the pump behave, which means that one of my fans is on a molex at 100% speed constantly. Thought maybe one of the new Corsair's would be a better bet.

I also found that the fan on the Kuhler 620 is extremely loud (and cheap/nasty) whereas the one on the corsair appears to be a trimmed down SP120.

No worries bud. It's common knowledge the antec 920 and the corsair H100 are the only CLCs really worth bothering with. Good luck with the spec'ing, hope you find something he likes for the price
