I currently have this motherboard, Processor and memory.

Asus M5A99X EVO AMD 990X (Socket AM3+) DDR3 ATX Motherboard

AMD Bulldozer FX-8 Eight Core 8120@8150 Black Edition 3.60Ghz (Socket AM3+) Processor

Corsair Dominator XMS3 8GB (4x2GB) DDR3 1600C8D Twin3X (CMD4GX3M2B1600C8)

This memory is 2 years old now.
Could someone advise me on some more up to date memory which would possible speed up the system a bit.
I see loads of deals but dont know what to buy to be honest.

You are not going to see any noticeable advantage with faster memory.

Have you considered overclocking your CPU instead?
 
I would say you would notice virtually no difference with anything different to what you got now.

I have Oc'ed to 3.9GHz. It's quite quick to be fair.
I was really just wondering if it was still good RAM for the system. I upgraded the mobo and cpu but couldn't afford RAM at the time.

the fx-8150 can go more overclocked then that im running mine at 4.4ghz with a noctua nh-u12do a3 cooler and dont go over 45c tho a friend as the fx 6 core and he cant go over 4.1ghz but he has a stock cooler


i cant see why you need to push anymore as i can play every game out fully maxed out and get great fps

like black ops 2 fully maxed out getting 130fps with no ups or downs and when doing a video with fraps it still stays on 130 fps

its just some games like css and the new doom dont seem to want to give good fps on the 8 core cpu's but im calling bang on 296fps not great as i used to get the same fps on my quad core on css
 
I'm watercooled running at 25 degree @ 3.9Ghz.
I have gone higher but got the old BSOD due to gfx drivers.
