can anyone ID this actor I'm thinking of

He's a b-list American (I think) actor who was quite a lot of 90s movies, and was middle aged at the time. A bit fat with shaggy/curly hair and generally plays likable side characters. I thought he was in The Usual Suspects but that was Gabriel Byrne. That's the kind of movie he was in, 90s crime/spy thrillers I think.

It's really bugging me.

I think he might be irish thats why I thought of gabriel byrne. He's not really fat but sort of heavy set and slightly swarthy looking and quiet/soft spoken.
