These are the things i am planning to buy and i don't know if i miss anything else.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ AM2 Socket
Asus M2N32-SLi-DLX
Corsair 2GB DDR2 TWIN2X2048-6400C4
Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB 3200KS SATA-II 16MB Cache
XFX GeForce 7900GTX 512MB GDDR3 eXtreme, PCI-Express, 2xDVI/HDTV, 675/1700Mhz
Antec P180
Antec Phantom
Belkin Pro Series DVI cable

I don't know if i need to order any extra fans or cables or not. This is my first time building the PC so any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

Of course, if there are any changes recommendation then please let me know.

Also, what windows would you recommend me using? Vista or XP 2006

You motherboard should come with SATA/IDE cables so you should be fine. If your CPU isn't OEM it will come with a fan. All other things (chipset, graphics card) have stock fans on them :). Vista isn't out yet and I don't know what XP 2006 is? Just stick with XP Home if you haven't got a complicated home network :) Nice specs btw .

The motherboard & PSU will come with all the cables you'll need. Processor if RETAIL will come with a HeatSink & Fan (HSF), case should have a couple of fans (crucially intake & outtake ones) - you can always add or change, graphics card will definately have one - & i hear they are noisy, infact...

...why that PSU? Worried about noise? TBH in your spec, they're several noise culprits & even if quiet them down you will still here them over any (good) PSU out there (unless you watercool). I recommend any of these which are known to be very reliable/quiet/etc:
  • Tagan TG580-U15 580W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-009-TG) £82.19 incl. VAT < got a Tagan (though an older 330W) & never ever heard the fans infact check to see if spinning once in a while :)
  • FSP Sparkle FX600-GLN Epsilon 600W ATX2.0 PSU (CA-002-SK) £89.89 incl. VAT
  • Enermax Noisetaker 600W EG701AX-VE(W) SFMA ATX2.0 SLI Compliant PSU (CA-021-EN) £88.07 incl. VAT
Also, maybe change hard disk to one of this:
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB ST3320620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-078-SE) £78.67 incl. VAT or...
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB ST3250620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-079-SE) £60.51 incl. VAT
Featuring 'new perpendicular recording technology'

This might convince you :D

Microsoft just released a free Public Beta of VISTA for you and me to 'test'. You can get (download/order) it here, but I urge you to research more about it - people have been having problems/issues (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17585722).

XP 2006? We still on Windows XP (2001), but obvisouly with several major+small updates/releases/etc since. One major release being Windows XP Media Centre 2005 Edition, which I'm using & highly recommend - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Operating_Systems.html
