Can Anyone Point me to any Photography Courses?

hello.
Im currently on job seekers and was looking to get into graphic design,
as my HND qualifications i have is good enough for it...

but after enjoying my canon 400d so much and doing amature photography for so many years with my old Fuji,... i absolutly love taking many many photo's, looking through, then editing those i have. within photoshop (and helps since i used it a lot) im not sure whether to look for a photography job...

or...

i wouldnt mind trying to find a Advance photography course?

i live near peterborogh / kings lynn in east anglia, so it needs to be drivable to it. maybe a short intense course. or over a few weeks? even long term if need be. but im not sure where to go or where to look for it.

i know how to use my camera as much as i can being self taught on most things, but i would like to get some sort of qualification maybe in this area also.

i have looked into trainee photographer jobs aswell, but without a qualification. im not sure if i would get picked up as easy. then again they do look for being able to take good photo's, so maybe a advance course would be good.

• has anyone got any advice where to look?
• what should i look for within the course?
• is a advance course right for me?
• how much will they cost me?
• would it be good to start looking into free lance photography?
• is it worth me looking into a course? or should i just get out there and look for a job...?

ill ask any questions you might ask me, im just trying to sort out what i should do next. as being on job seekers is rather boring.

I've been all through this myself before I ended up as a civil servant

All photo shops want a 17-19 year old suck up yes boy, with a car so they'll do all the running around for them. All the courses in this area are taken EVERY DAMN YEAR. I've been trying to get on a course (now in the evenings as I'm working) and they announce it (I even know the day they announce the course) and yet all the spots are taken. I honestly don't know what I'm supposed to do. How do you get on a course that's fully booked when they have only been taking places for an hour that day? Gits.

Basically I got nowhere. You've got to be really lucky to get anywhere now. I seriously think it's more experience and getting your work out there yourself. Look at Cykey. I don't know what qualifications he's got, but I remember him being around from the start of what he was doing, and he went from average shots to HDR shots of the Liverpool area. I do remember him saying he was sending his work to various places. Personally I'd suggest doing that.

However, if you google search you can find a place that does these courses. I think they were near Leicester when I checked. They'll send you a pack and full description of what they do. Shame I can't remember the name.

As I say, you'd probably be better off taking all your best shots, and as long as you know you're good enough to take the top shots you've got, all the time then you can send a book of your work to various places in your area and see if you can get work from them.

It's seriously a pain in the rear trying to get on courses or general jobs.

i think you put a lot of valid points there.
might be very difficult for me to get onto a course this time of year aswell.

i may have to look and make a photography portfolio via prints into A3, and i know i have got to update my CV so i will do that next week, to include samples of my work.

then i think i will just go mad and send lots of applications out and emails.

probably best to get out there rather than look into more courses. (did 5 years at college and though it went quick... still was long time when i was there)

I'm looking to start a course I think. Really just after some lessons and pointers. Sure I can learn by myselt but best to learn good habbits early on!
