Can anyone recommend a projector for gaming?

I was thinking about getting a new TV to play the 360 on but I thought it wasn't really worth it as I don't watch TV anyway (and don't want to cough up for a TV licence when I get to uni), so I am looking at getting a projector.

I've seen good reviews of Dell 3400 which comes in around £800. It's slightly too pricey but it has HDTV component support which is great for consoles.

Anyone got any other suggestions? As I say, it's primarily for gaming so would need to be HD ready so to speak.

Cheers!

Panansic ax100
Sharp z5

Both 720p and better than the Dell and a similar price.

If you want to go 1080p then you're looking at 1500 +.

I think either will blow your socks off for the price.

You can also easily make your own fixed screen using blackouit material for peanuts.

Ill vote for Panasoic AE700 which I run my 260 through. Great projector has been repalced by the AE900 and AE1000 i belive.

Has VGA, HDMI, Component, S-Video, Compostie, Scart so all the major inputs covered :)

i run my 360 on a panny PT-AE500. 720p, looks fantastic, and can be had for about £400 :)

i'd imagine the 700 and 900 would both be better in terms of vid quality, but also have HDMI where as the AE500 has DVI instead

I use a Sanyo Z3 for my Driving/flight Sims and for my 360 and I'm really happy with it. Image quality is excellent and they can be had for under 500 notes now if you dont mind buying second hand. Check out the AVforums as well as you can pick up some good used projectors over there and they're usually well looked after.
