Can anyone recommend good spyware, and good firewall, software?

Become a little paranoid some program or other is sending my data over the net

Can anyone recommend a good spyware checker, and a good firewall?

I use AVG Free as a virus killer, which seems ok. Is the paid for spyware thing any good?

Spybot Search and Destroy
Comodo Firewall

I use that setup with AVG also.

AVG - one of the poorer free AV's, i've no ideea why it's got such a rabid fanbase, it consistently performs sub-average in tests.

Go for Avast!, Adaware and SpywareBlaster.

Hey marcosscriven, the Windows Firewall is absolutely fantastic.

As for a good spyware program, Avast and Ad-aware are two that immediately pop into mind.

5ingh - I reckon Windows Firewall is good, but it doesn't alert you when applications are accessing the net (you get that one-off block/unblock thing, but it does't actually say when the apps are accessing.)

Spyware - Spybot and SpywareBlaster, a great combo!

As for AV, personal taste really. I use Norton 2005 (don't cringe, it just works great for me

) but some of the better ones are Kaspersky and NOD32 along with the latest version of ZoneAlarm (which uses the Kaspersky engine)

Google for "Kerio 2.1.5" for a lightweight free firewall that alerts outgoing connections

Counterspy and Super AntiSpyware are considered 2 of the better ones.
