Hi guys I was hoping one or more of you guys on here could recommend me a wireless speedo/trip meter (bicycle computer) for my bicycle please

Needs to be 100% waterproof and I would also like one that has a backlight.

How much have you to spend? A simple garmin gps device can be had for not too much and you can log your journeys which can be fun if you get into strava. What're you cycling for? Commute or exercise or.?

Hi godinman thanks for replying.

Am going be cycling mainly just to try get a little bit fitter after being a lazy smoking car/motorbike user for 31 years....:o
I been thinking of trying to ride about 5 to 10miles every few days or something like that and see how it goes.

I just looked at some them bicycle garmin gps on amazon and they look like a good idea..

There's a huge range with stuff like this. Why do you want a trip computer in the first place? You can get cheap, simple computers with a single speed sensor that will do other things like distance, time, pace, maybe temperature. You can get more advanced ones that come with a cadence sensor as well, which is helpful for improving your technique on the bike. And then you have more expensive Garmin computers which do all sorts of stuff like route recording, navigation, having the option to connect heart rate meters etc.

Have you tried using Strava? It's very useful if you want to keep track of rides and review your performance, and you'd just have to take a smartphone on the ride with you - http://www.strava.com/

Really depends on your budget and what you're hoping to achieve. For motivation and 'tracking your miles' Strava is your best bet.

Basic: Strava on smartphone - Cost = very little/none if you have a phone already.
More advanced: Speed & cadence sensors, HRM, paired to ANT+ on smartphone with IpBike or such - Cost <£100
Bit more advanced: dedicated CatEye cycle computer (or garmin 210?) to replace smartphone & sensors - Cost £100-£200
What everyone ends up doing eventually: Garmin 510 or 810 with sensors - Cost £300-£400
