I am after one that works using radio or bluetooth as my computer is in the study and I am running a cable from this computer to a TV in the lounge and want to use a keyboard and mouse in this lounge. The computer in the study is located at about 3 meters from a wall which is not too thick and the door is always open and just around the corner is my lounge which doors are always open. So I hope with that information you could recommend me a setup where the signal will reach?

Also I am looking to buy the Speed Link SL-6399 Media Centre Remote Control and as it uses infrared. Unfortunately the infrared receivers USB cable is a bit short, is there a way to extend the cable? Are there USB extender cables?

Many thanks in advance

You can buy usb extender cables yes, OC do one here.. link... Its only a couple of quid but out of stock at moment. I think your only meant to have usb cables a max of 5m though unless going through a hub?

Many thanks for your reply

Do you know if there is a way to just bounce the signal from one room to the next using reflective objects like a foil can or mirror?

Yes I use an old kettle balanced carefully on a 3 legged stool to bounce my signals.

I've just done a test using a friends Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse from the other side of the shop through a mediumly thick wall. It's about 6m with the wall in the middle, connecting to an internal bluetooth card in his laptop. It is reasonable responsive and the signal didn't drop during use.

As for keyboards, finding just a keyboard without a mouse or touchpad is expensive, unless you go for a wireless Keyboard + Mouse.

As for the mouse, I reccomend the "Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 - OEM (72R-00004)" - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-098-MS

As for the USB cable, as said above you will need a repeater for the USB cable, or one short enough to not need one in order to keep it working quickly, as the current cable is out of stock your choices are limited. Wait for stock or...bounce the signal!
