Can anyone recommend me a solid tactical shooter please?

Hey guys!

Was hoping some of you guys/gals could suggest a decent tactical shooter that isn't just about the killing, but the lead up to it also. I was looking at SWAT 4, is this any good?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
 
Probably one of the Rainbow Six or GRAW games, although they have both been dumbed-down in recent incarnations imo!

Maybe Arma 2?? (or is Arma 3 on it's way out soon??)

Done the two Vegas games, they're decent but not a touch on the old ones! Been on a bit of a Special Forces trip lately, watching documentaries on the SAS etc, just want to do some SWAT type stuff :D Think i'll try SWAT 4!
 
Whilst not in the same 'vein' as your original post, you could try a look at Killing Floor.

Yes, there's no build up to the shooting so it's very much action-based.

But ramp up the difficulty and it's very much a tactical game, sharing your money between team members, choosing what weapons to upgrade to and when, what classes fit together to make a decent team, not to mention limited buy/sell time at the trader.

Pick it up when it's on a Steam sale and it's usually about £4 or less!
 
Killing Floor is a mindless shooting spree (clue's in the name :p )

ArmA 2 will probably be right up your alley, as not only is it a squad based tactical FPS, there are thousands of addons, missions and campaigns for it
