Hi

I'm currently scanning in a load of old photo's and slides* for my parents and was wondering if anyone knows of any software that can/will allow me to:
Index them all.
Sort them by various criteria (date/location/people or other similar things).
Display the selected images by the searched criteria
Possibly export the selected image group in a manner that could be easily distributed via the internet or CD/DVD.

At the moment i'm making a note of the file number of the scanned images and then creating a temporary DB in Excel with fields for file name/rough date/any notes on the slide (or photo)/people1/people2/people3, but would like to do it with something simplier

Basically I want to make it as easy as possible for family to find the relevant pictures, without having to be very computer literate.

Thanks :)

*There are some here that are 70+ years old, and loads of slides from the 60's.

Thanks for the replies, and sorry for the delay in replying i'd forgotton i'd asked here :)

I'll give Picasso a try initially and see where to go from there :)

I don't like the way a lot of these applications make you use their albums instead of the perfectly good folders your already using.

I like XNView, free, and simple.

I've had a HDD thats full of photos from back when my 19 year old was a baby plus 1000s of other photos, is there a free bit of software that can date order all of them, I want to get them off the HDD and put them in iCloud if possible? They are in multiple folders, if I could just point the software to the main folder and export all in date order to one location that would be a start?

Thanks in advance!
