Can anyone recommend some decent (warm) gloves?

I had heated grips on the bike but kept breaking the glue seal with too much ham fisted throttle so ended up ripping the wires out mid ride  (it was that or keep adjusting it so the cable wouldn't bunch up between throttle tube and brake, which was quite... alarming.. the first time it happened)

Either going to save up for a reasonable pair of heated gloves (are there any reasonable priced heated gloves out there for hands like a shovel?) or want some suggestions on a brand/model that really keeps your fingers warm.

My last ride out in October (after the red hot first week :( ) was crap because for the last 45 minutes before I got to Whitby my fingers stopped working. Took about an hour, a cup of tea and two pies to get the feeling back (though I'm not sure on the overall effect of the pies save on my gut...) and I stuck the bike in the garage, thinking 'stuff that!' for the rest of the year. I used to ride up till the snow started and get out on the first day the roads cleared, and the bike looked like a crusty white dog poo from the salt. This year for the first time I've sorned it, but a decent pair of gloves might get me out earlier than, say, March next year.

Suggestions anyone, please?

I used to have a pair of THESE a few years ago.

They were awesome at keeping your hands warm, right down to the finger tips. I got a bit fed up of having to wire myself into my jacket then plug into the bike though. And I aaaaaalways forgot to unplug before getting off :p

Since then I just use heated grips and a good pair of Gortex gloves. Fingers still get cold after a good 40 minutes, but I'm normally at my next destination by then so it's not too much bother.

What I'd really like to see are some gloves that work well WITH heated grips. Ie. thin on the palm to let heat in, but with a wind shield on the knuckles/back of the fingers etc. Surely someone must have invented some by now... :)

Edit: And as for heated grip glue, I learned a couple of years ago that the glue that comes with them is a load of sh1te. Best to get some proper stuff elsewhere :)

What sort of glue do you recommend? My heated grip is sliding around if I hold it too tight so I plan on taking it off and glueing it back on.

What they supply is Superglue, which is fine although you do have to use a fair bit of it.

You can get special grip glue and another trick is to use hair spray.

Tried superglue, hair spray, even a smear of silicon sealant (which lasted longer than the glue if I recall). As mentioned, eventually I got fed up and took throttle heated grip off. Was a good excuse to stick a quick turn r6 throttle tube on anyway :)

Will scour about for some heated gloves I think.

Or just go out again when it's warmer :)

I know they don't look very good but have you thought about a set of muffs.

I can keep my summer gloves on with my heated grips at minimum setting, with the bonus they keep your gloves dry in the rain.

First tried them last winter, should have got them years ago.

Sorned the bike now, but will be watching the weather next year come end of jan/feb time and get myself a pair of muffs, stash 'em on the bike when not in use. The underseat area on my old shonky Thunderace is big enough to stick a kitchen sink under cause its bum is so fat...

Those look mighty nice.

Got myself a pair of plain cow leather gloves for 15£ couple of years ago off eBay and to be honest, in cold weather they simply offer no protection. I've ridden for 6 hours at night this summer (mountain terrain, very cold nights, 3AM-9AM) and I couldn't feel my fingers after 15 minutes. Every hour or so I had to stop and defrost (couldn't stop every 15 minutes). :(
Riding now, in winter during the day, is about the same.
I've got a good leather jacket but my hands are screwed.
If I had some cash to spend on gear atm, a pair of those would be top of my list.

So I managed to get out earlier today. A good hour spent riding in 3-4C. Hands were nice and comfortable throughout. At no point did I think "oooh my fingers are a bit cold". That was in conjunction with heated grips. So a thumbs up for the HG lobsters from me :)

I usually wear a pair of Held winter gloves (5 finger) with sewn in finger wiper etc. After 20-30 mins at 3-4C I'm normally feeling the chill on the back of my fingers. Plus they're thick and u get less feel for the controls.

These new ones seem to be nice and comfy, no chill issues as yet, but I've only been out in them once. Seemed to be slightly more feeling on the controls too :)

This is with heated grips too.

Just to chime about about the Pathan/Lobsters. Even unshielded and without heated grips I can carry on riding for much, much longer. Eventually the cold will get you without either decent shielding on grips. One of my best winter purchases though!
