As above looking to build new pc with parts below can anyone see any potential problems with parts going together.........

ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING (SOCKET AM4) DDR4 ATX MOTHERBOARD

RYZEN 5 3600 SIX CORE 4.2GHZ (SOCKET AM4) PROCESSOR - RETAIL

SILENT BASE 601 MIDI-TOWER CASE - BLACK WINDOW

RM SERIES RM650 650W '80 PLUS GOLD' MODULAR POWER SUPPLY

RADEON RX 5700 XT PULSE 8GB GDDR6 PCI-EXPRESS GRAPHICS CARD

DARK ROCK 4 CPU COOLER

HYPERX PREDATOR RGB 16GB (2X8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHZ DUAL CHANNEL KIT

970 EVO PLUS POLARIS 500GB M.2 2280 PCI-E 3.0 X4 NVME SOLID STATE DRIVE

i was going to get the tomahawk b450 mobo but that is out of stock as is the force mp510 drive that i was also looking to use.

thanks for any advice and apologies for all the questions this last few days

I'm not 100% on this but doesnt the 450 Strix require bios flash for Ryzen 3***.... Where as if you was able to source the 450 Tomahawk Max somewhere else you can just slot the CPU in and its good to go

how do you flash a bios on a new build for the cpu support?

If you buy the MSI B450 MAX - you shouldn't need to flash as it's Zen-2 compatible out of the box - it's been re-released with a facelift and 32MB eeprom (and is a superior to that ASUS-STrix F)

And if you did need to flash - it's possible to use the flash back utility without a CPU installed - detailed instructions within this thread. But, if you search they're all over the web...

*The MP510 is the better drive too...

EDIT: Are you building yourself?

thanks for the advice, yes i am building myself.

Other than the motherboard and expensive NVMe - you've compiled spec with a lot of oomph for your money.

It's a PITA buying from mixed suppliers for core components but the MSI B450 MAX is the stand-out board for your budget and that Samsung NVMe is terrible value at £120 for 500Gb - you're first instinct in getting the MP510 is correct and will either save you a considerable amount of money or bag you 1TB drive for the same money.

Case, cooler and memory i'm guessing is for the relative silence and the aesthetic(?) - but is a healthy chunk of your budget. But, the case/cooler will last a few builds and i too buy quiet builds so can relate.

If, however, memory is not selected for look - i would recommend Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 3200MHz (AES in product code - E-Die) - clocks to 3600MHz CL16 with ease and approx ~£80 - but unfortunately OcUK don't stock it and is all i can say due to forum rules (comes in assorted colours).

Asus needs update. No way to update without previous gen processor.

once again thanks am no looking at this motherboard, extra £100 i know

MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI (AMD AM4) DDR4 X570 CHIPSET ATX MOTHERBOARD

and also this drive

MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA PCIE M.2 SOLID STATE DRIVE

am thinking abit of future proofing with the mobo as for the drive its twice the size and am i really going to notice a few seconds in performance?

The B450 MAX is more fitting for your budget/chip choice and will accommodate future updates. But, if you are considering an X570 motherboard i would recommend the Gigabyte gaming X or the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite at similar price when includung the £30 cash back (Steam Vouchers). Unless, you need the WiFi in which case the Asus TUF X570 WiFi @ £219.

And, if you're trying to buy from one store for ease of returns (understand) i would still source the MP510 from a place that has stock (you don't want to compromise your build due to stock issues.) as a drive will not prove a problem if you need to troubleshoot your system (it's not needed to identify a problem). There will be no real life speed difference between the speeds for gaming/general day-to-day usage - but you could have a quality MP510 NVMe for the same money.

ok everyone thanks for the help here i am going to go back to my original parts and will just have to wait for stock on the b450 tomahawk max and the mp510 drive

I would post in the CS forum and ask for lead times. If they get the B450 MAX in stock before the MP510 i would order (they sell fast) and get the drive from elsewhere - OcUK would understand if they're struggling for stock. And, as mentioned, it wouldn't hinder troubleshooting, if that is a concern.

thanks everyone for all the help, order placed. Finally settled on the b450 and the mp510 they will apparently be in stock b4 the end of the month so will be sent once in :)

Now my final dilema is do i need to buy a wifi adapter? my pc at the moment is connected to the internet via a cable but it does have wifi and bluetooth which to be honest i do not use, however you never know one day i may need wifi or bluetooth.

i do have a bluetooth usb dongle that came with a mouse would that work if i shoved it in a usb slot? my other option is to get a pcie wifi/bluetooth internal card and use that, if so which one?

cheers
