Can anyone see what's wrong with these line stats?

Hi all.

I've noticed a severe drop in speed for my connection of late. I'm on ADSL2 ADSL24 service. Website loading is considerably slower and also hosting a COD game for example, everyone has lag which didn't used to be the case.

Stats:

Type Interleave Path
Status Show Time
Downstream Upstream
Data Rate (kbps) 11800 1144
Noise Margin (dB) 12.0 6.6
Attenuation (dB) 26.9 14.5
Output power(dbm) 20.4 12.8

I know it wouldn't make a difference but the DL speed did read 16000 a few days ago.

Thanks

Andy

Noise margin is high on the downstream, suggesting your line has been unstable and so the target noise margin has been increased (and speed reduced) to work around the issues.

The noise margin on the upstream is a touch lower than I'd expect too. This gives you faster speeds but can lead to connection drops.

How long does the router report it has been connected? Does the log file indicate any disconnections?

The unstable line (indicated by the fairly high downstream noise margin) probably switched you from Fastpath to Interleave, which will have added a good 20+ ms latency on everything. If you give your ISP a ring they can reverse this for you.

Run a ping www.multiplay.co.uk -t and see if you are getting frequent packet loss - If you are then there is an interference problem.
