Can anyone spec a gaming machine from 2000

Cleeecooo, I think the question is more, if you had any amount of money back then what would you buy and how much would it be to run the games of yesteryear (you know, all the good stuff, Doom, Unreal, Quake etc), compared to the price for a top of the range machine of today to run whatever the latest compute hungry eye candy game.

As I put in that post, the P2 450 system I had in '98 was top of the range, no one within miles could keep up, no change from 2.5k!!

I got my first pc back then, it was, 850MHz T-Bird athlon, 32mb GeForce2 gfx card, 128Mb sdram, can't remember the hdd, & a 17" CRT ( free upgrade from 15" ), Win Millenium OS, generic case, mouse & kb, 1 year rtb warranty, that little lot came to a bit over a £1100 iirc.

nowadays, the same kinda money, spent wisely ( ie, shopping around ) would net you some thing eye wateringly quick by comparison.

Oh how times, & technology, has changed. :D
